Q. What are your responsibilities on this role at HDL?

A. I am the National Sales Manager at HDL. My responsibilities are to bring glamour and sophistication to the organisation, however my second role is to focus on developing new revenue streams to HDL that make full use of the exceptional engineering talent within the business. At the moment, my primary objective is expanding our industrial compressed air treatment offering. By partnering with Omega Air and building on our own in-house expertise, we’re able to provide what I genuinely believe is the strongest and most competitive product portfolio on the market.
Q. How long have you been in the industry?
A. I’ve been part of this industry for over 25 years, and I’m still enjoying every minute.
Q. What key skills and experience do you bring to the role?
A. Fortunately I rely on my film star’s good looks and boyish charms to help me with selling. However, experience has taught me that success in sales comes down to hard work, honesty, and consistency. I believe in delivering on promises, supporting customers as much as possible, and ensuring we offer outstanding value. I keep a close eye on changing market demands so we can adapt our product range accordingly and stay competitive.
One principle I live by is simple but rare: never over-promise and under-deliver.

Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
A. The diversity of the industry is what keeps me engaged. Compressed air is used in so many different applications, I’ve sold systems to everything from convents to steelworks. No two days are ever the same, and that variety makes the job incredibly rewarding.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. Outside of work, I’ve embraced life as a motorhome enthusiast. I love exploring new parts of the country, waking up to different landscapes, and taking time to enjoy the outdoors. I also enjoy long walks with my dog, who keeps me active and entertained.
Q. Anything else you’d like to share?
A. I’m immensely proud of my three children. Two serve in the armed forces, one in the special forces and one as a Royal Marine, and my daughter has recently made me a grandparent. Even though my grandchild is half Scottish and ginger, I adore them almost as much as I adore my dog.
